The RACE - Accra to Assin Foso and Everywhere Inbetween
BYKA – AFRICA-Ghana is organizing a Race/Community Event from Accra to Assin Fosu to support BYKA’s bicycle assembly and repair company and cheap access to bikes for those that have to walk hours to and hours back from school or work. It will be timed to coincide with the Dolly Foundations Youth Conference which will provide information and training on opportunities available today and how to access them. The race will consist of many smaller events which will be timed to promote cultural exchanges and local artists.
The intent is to involve all classes from the serious tour rider to short localized events on route that are focused on the villages being helped. Travelling through some of the most beautiful places in the world crossing the most diverse conditions and communities we hope to create an event that involves not only riders but the communities at large including but not limited to youth, racers, mountain bikers, handicapped riders, and school children.

The proposed schedule for the Youth Conference, Race and cultural exchange events is the Month of October if all conditions align. This time was chosen to follow the harvest celebrations and to not interfere with the traditional events scheduled for November which we hope the attendees will decide to take in.

Since this is a community event we are looking to involve as many people as possible to provide their input.
The final route will be chosen by a panel of judges.

Do you want to help us get the communities involved? You can by going to the community forum and posting your idea.

We will be filming the events in order to provide long term benefits to the artist or community and where possible we will use local suppliers instead of one company for all.

We have people interested in coming from several countries and the list will only get bigger in the coming months so please get your idea in soon.

BYKA is now working with DIVOG to connect with community organizations and groups that we can promote as part of the race. In addition we are going to be setting up a BYKA location to assemble bicycles and much more for all of our systems can be used in the region.

We also hope to encourage past volunteers to be part of our campaigns to ship bicycles, wheelchairs and food systems to Ghana.
